Gauteng health MEC to Announce Preferred new names for three Gauteng Hospitals

Gauteng Health MEC Brian Hlongwa will announce the preferred new names for Johannesburg , Coronation and Pretoria Academic hospitals on Monday, 29 September 2008, at the Parktonian Hotel in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
The process involved public consultation, which started in August 2007. The MEC chose Heritage month as appropriate to make the announcement. The criterion for recommending names was:
People who have contributed to the health sector or the struggle for social justice but who have not received the recognition in public;

People who epitomize respect for the dignity of others, self sacrifice, caring for vulnerable people and public accountability and
- Names that represent essential qualities or location of the institution.
The journalists are invited to attend.
