Prevent deadly germs, wash your hands
23 June 2008 The Gauteng Department of Health will host a hand washing competition to encourage health workers to constantly protect themselves as well as patients from infectious diseases.
The competition marks the end of hand washing campaign that has been continuing in health institutions around the province since last year November.
Through this campaign which is considered as the effective way of preventing the spread of contagious diseases, the department is aiming at minimising unnecessary infections.
The institutions that have come up with innovative ways of washing hands will be awarded. The first prize is R50 000 worth of equipment, second prize is R25 000 and the third prize winners will walk away with R15 000.
